New Zealand Standards Online
We now subscribe to Standards New Zealand's online Library. This gives MIT staff and students electronic access to all New Zealand Standards (NZS) and joint Australian standards (AS/NZS
There are 2 main conditions to using the Online Library.
1) you can download 1 copy of a standard for your personal and temporary use.
2) you must not print any part of a standard.
You will need to agree to these conditions before accessing the Online Library

Barbara Garriock Leaves MIT
The Institute librarian of 10 years, Barbara Garriock, has gone to pastures new at the National Library of New Zealand (Te Puna Matauranga O Aotearoa). We wish her all the best in her new endeavours.
Until a new Institute Librarian is appointed Pat Liao will be Acting Institute Librarian.

Using your Browser's Search box to search the catalogue
Do you use your browser's Search box to begin a search on Google, Yahoo or Wkipedia?
Well now you can set it up to search MIT Library's Catalogue.
Read this short How To... page for simple instructions on setting up Internet Explorer and Firefox.

| WIFI on Level 2
WIFI access is now available on Level 2 !
This includes the foyer, study rooms and study carrels.
There are posters scattered around the floor on how to set up access. It is up to you to know how your portable device's wifi works. PDF version (63Kb)

Designated Cell Phone Zones
The Library has two designated areas on Level 2 of the Main library (S Block) where people may use their cellphones. |
| Zone 1: Level 2 Foyer under the Level 4 mezzanine, in the seating area behind the new books display. |

| Zone 2: The Level 2 Toilets foyer / Emergency Exit area. |

Please respect others need for quiet and observe these courtesy guidelines:
Cellphone set to vibrate or other silent mode
To make or receive a call, move to a cell phone zone
Keep your voice low

A list is produced each month of new titles the Library has purchased
and are ready to be borrowed. If
you find a title you like, click on the title and you will be taken to it's record in the Library Catalogue.
If it has been issued you may make a request to be the next person to borrow it.

EBL eBooks
The library now provides access to 30,000 plus eBooks from EBL. These titles are "loaned" too you. You may read them online or download them on to your home computer or laptop (you will need to install a special reader from Adobe). You will find the titles in our catalogue or you can visit EBL and search from there.
To access the books you have "borrowed" log into EBL's Patron page to access your titles. This link is also available from our Electronic Books and Journals page. You can also search for them again in the library's catalogue.
