Laptops / Computers

Using laptops and computers in the library

  • Laptops are available to borrow for up to four hours.
  • They may be borrowed from:
    • MIT Otara Library
    • MIT Manukau Library.
  • Computers and IT help are also available at the MIT Otara Library.  

Laptops for loan

  • Users must present their student ID cards to borrow laptops.
  • Laptops are issued for up to four hours at a time.
  • Borrowers are responsible for the replacement cost of the laptop if it is damaged, lost or stolen.
  • Laptops must be returned the day they are issued.

Loanable laptops are available from the Lending desks at the following MIT Libraries:

MIT Otara Library (S Block)

  • Students may borrow laptops for use within the Library during opening hours. 

MIT Manukau Library

  • Students may borrow laptops for use within the Manukau Campus building during Library opening hours. 


Computer Facilities

  • Computing facilities are available for course related purposes in our three libraries as described below.
  • Use is generally on a first-come-first served basis and there is no time limit when using the majority of the computers.
  • Computer use is subject to the terms and conditions as described in our Learning Commons policy.

MIT Otara Library

  • There are 70 computers available in the Learning Commons (Level 2), and nine computers available on Level 4.
  • Four computers are installed with specialised engineering programs such as AutoCAD.  Students who need to use these programs for study purposes have priority.

MIT Manukau Library

  • Computers are available throughout the building.

Maritime Library

  • There are ten computers available during opening hours.


Borrow a laptop

Use a Computer
