We have an extensive range of books, articles and online resources to support your teaching and research. We can also arrange for you to borrow items from other libraries in New Zealand and overseas.

Finding Library Resources

Search Rapua can search most of our library resources including books, databases, eBooks, DVDs, and articles.

Our Libraries

We have three libraries:

  • The Ōtara Campus Library (Level 2, NP Block) at our Ōtara North Campus 
  • Manukau Campus Library at MIT Manukau (Level 2)
  • The Maritime library at the Maritime Campus in Auckland CBD.

Borrowing

You need to produce your staff MIT ID card to borrow.

You can have up to 15 items on loan to you at any time.

Loan lengths:

Books: 4 weeks or 1 week

Serials: 1 week

DVDs: 1 week

High Demand items: 2 hours, 1 item only.

Note:

  • High Demand items can be renewed once if no one is waiting.
  • You can renew an item twice as long as no one is waiting for the item (Requested).

Requesting items 

By using our library catalogue you can Request items that are on loan to another student or request an item from another campus library. If you have a book that has been requested by another person, you will be sent an email and a text message (via your record's preferred  mobile number) to let you know that the item has been requested by another borrower.

Fines and other charges

Items that have been Requested are subject to overdue fines of $3 per day. Lost or damaged items are subject to charges for the cost of replacement. Administration fees will also be charged if an invoice is issued.

Payment is via Internet banking ( Westpac Bank account: 03-1509-0187933-00 )
Please use your Staff MIT ID number and Name as reference.

Other services

High Demand collections 

Our High Demand collections contain books and other library materials which are in high demand by your students, such as course textbooks and recommended readings. High demand resources can only be used in the library. The High Demand collections are generally held behind the Lending Desk at each branch. If you require an item to be placed in High Demand (required readings etc.) please talk to your Subject Librarian.

Interlibrary Loan 

Borrow or request books and articles from other libraries in New Zealand using the interloan service for your research or teaching. Visit our interlibrary loan page for more information.
