ClinicalKey databases

Core nursing textbooks are available online via the ClinicalKey Student database.

New nursing ākonga-students will be provided with online access information at the start of their course. Use this information to redeem your remote access to ClinicalKey Student. You will need to create a ClinicalKey account using your MIT student email.

Nursing students click on the Ākonga - Student access link for instructions.

New Nursing staff - kaimahi click on the Kaimahi - Staff access link for instructions.

Once you have activated your ClinicalKey account, you will have access to additional resources the ClinicalKey Student Bookshelf App. 

How to redeem registration codes

Use your allocated registration ID and password. Your lecturer may give to you individually (begin at step 3) or check for a class list on Canvas (begin at Step 1).

Step 1. Check your Canvas (announcements) for a class list with registration codes.

Step 2. Find your name or MIT student ID number to locate your allocated unique registration codes (x2).

Step 3.  Click here for the link to redeem registration codes

Step 4. Carefully copy and paste your Registration ID into the first box.

Step 5. Carefully copy and paste your Registration password into the second box

Step 6. Click on Continue

You will get a message that your redemption codes have been validated.

First time users must create a ClinicalKey/ Elsevier account.

Step 7. Click on Register and fill in the form using your MIT student email e.g. abc123@manukaumail.com.
Note. Your ClinicalKey account password is not linked to your MIT password. 

Step 8. Click on Register to complete the registration process.

Contact your Nursing Subject librarian if you have any issues. 

Do you currently access ClinicalKey via the MIT Library and Learning Services link? To access lecturer links on Canvas and to get the full benefits of ClinicalKey Student, you now need to link remote registration codes to your ClinicalKey account.

Step 3.  Click here for the link to redeem registration codes

Step 4. Carefully copy and paste your Registration ID into the first box.

Step 5. Carefully copy and paste your Registration password into the second box

Step 6. Click on Continue. You will get a message that your redemption codes have been validated.

Step 7. Click on Login in. Type in your MIT student email and ClinicalKey password. 

Step 8. Click on Continue to access ClinicalKey Student.

Mobile access - Bookshelf mobile and desktop apps

How do I log into the Bookshelf mobile app for CK Student Nursing?

Once you have downloaded the Bookshelf mobile app to your phone, to log into your personal Bookshelf for CK Student Nursing:

  1. Click the app icon on your phone’s screen
  2. When prompted, click ‘Sign In’
  3. On the ClinicalKey Student login screen, click the box labelled 'Nursing users, log in here'
  4. On the following screen, enter your student email address and password

When an error message displays:

  • Review what the error message says.
  • Re-check you have correctly typed in your MIT student email address (abc123@manukaumail.com) and ClinicalKey password.
  • If you have forgotten your password, click on Reset your password.
    Note - Use your MIT student email and reset your password within 30 minutes. 
  • If your MIT student email is not recognised, click on the New students tab and follow the instructions from Step 1.
  • If an error persists contact your Subject Librarian.
